As your baby grows stronger and more responsive, they’ll transition to Lil’ Squirts where active exploration begins.
Lil' Squirts
6-18 months
Key Focus:
Building water familiarity together. Learning to support your baby as they become comfortable with water sensations, gentle submersions, and pool surroundings through trust and exploration.
What happens next:
Your baby will develop opinions and preferences, ready for the more adventurous Big Squirts level.
Big Squirts
18-36 months
Key Focus:
Navigating toddler confidence and opinions! Supporting your child as they develop stronger breath control, floating skills, and crucial safety habits like wall holding and turning to safety.
What happens next:
When your toddler shows signs of wanting more independence, they’re ready for Super Squirts—our bridge to solo swimming.
Super Squirts
2.5-3.5 years, skill-based
Key Focus:
Preparing for independence together. Guiding your child as they coordinate swimming movements, build confidence, and master automatic safety responses before transitioning to solo lessons.
What happens next:
Your child will graduate to independent lessons in either Lil Gills (if they need gentle transition support) or Yellow Tails (if they’re ready to dive straight in).
Learn to Swim (Tails)
First Steps to Freedom
From tentative first splashes to confident independent swimming. Where gentle patience meets joyful discovery, and every child finds their own rhythm.
Lil' Gills
3+ years, with parent support
Key Focus:
For children who bloom at their own pace. Some children need a little more time to warm up to new experiences—and that’s perfectly wonderful. Parents join their children in the water for play-based lessons, building trust and comfort until they’re ready to swim independently with their teacher.
What happens next:
When your child feels secure and excited, they’ll transition to Yellow Tails for their first independent lessons.
Yellow Tails
3+ years, beginners
Key Focus:
Discovering the underwater world! Where children learn to go underwater with eyes wide open, discovering that holding their breath is natural, and experiencing the magic of a whole new world beneath the surface—the foundation for all swimming ahead.
What happens next:
Once comfortable underwater, your child progresses to Orange Tails to master floating and relaxation in water.
Orange Tails
3+ years
Key Focus:
Building trust with the water. Learning to float on front and back, discovering that the water will hold them. Where tension melts away and ease replaces effort as they begin moving through water independently.
What happens next:
With floating mastered, your child is ready for Red Tails—where independent swimming truly begins.
Red Tails
3+ years
Key Focus:
The breakthrough level! Where it all clicks and children swim independently across the pool—truly swimming on their own. This is where confidence soars and everything changes for young swimmers.
What happens next:
Your child graduates to Fins, where formal stroke technique begins and great swimming is built.
Stroke Foundations (Fins)
Ready for Technique
Learning proper stroke technique across all swim strokes. Where great swimmers are formed.
Purple Fins
Key Focus:
Where great swimming begins! This is where lessons change—from play-based discovery to focused skill development. Your child will learn in small groups of three, mastering strong controlled kicking, body position, and the patience and focus needed for technical swimming. This level builds control and beautiful kicking skills—the foundation for stroke technique ahead.
What happens next:
With solid foundations in place, your child moves to Green Fins to tackle one of swimming’s trickiest skills—breathing while swimming.
Green Fins
Key Focus:
Taking the next leap! Children learn to breathe smoothly while swimming, try their first dives, and explore the basics of dolphin kick. This level is all about building confidence, coordination, and readiness for more advanced strokes.
What happens next:
Your child progresses to Blue Fins where arms, legs, and breathing come together in coordinated strokes.
Blue Fins
Key Focus:
Bringing it all together! Children coordinate arms, legs, and breathing to build strong freestyle and backstroke foundations, while introducing elements of butterfly and breaststroke. This is where skills start to take shape and confidence grows as real swimming begins to form.
What happens next:
Ready for refinement, your child advances to Wings where technique becomes smooth and effortless.
Stroke Development (Wings)
Where Swimming Becomes Second Nature
Refining technique, building coordination, and discovering the ease that comes when body and water work as one.
Silver Wings
Key Focus:
Finding flow through the water! Children refine their freestyle and backstroke, and tackle the tricky breaststroke kick. This is where strokes become smoother, distances get longer, and swimmers start to feel truly at home in the water.
What happens next:
Your child moves to Gold Wings to build the endurance needed for squad-level swimming.
Gold Wings
Key Focus:
Ready for the big swim! Swimmers build endurance and polish all their strokes, preparing to swim the full length of the pool with confidence and efficiency. This is where strong technique and stamina come together, setting the stage for squad-level swimming.
What happens next:
Your child graduates to Waves—the beginning of their squad swimming journey.
Mini Squads
Where Passion Meets Purpose
For swimmers who’ve mastered the strokes and are ready for more. These are squad classes reimagined—building real fitness, refining technique to an art form, and developing the endurance that opens up a world of water adventures.
No pressure. No competitions unless they choose. Just the pure satisfaction of swimming beautifully, swimming strongly, and discovering what their body can do.
Waves
Entry Level Squads
Key Focus:
Where squad swimming begins! Swimmers learn all four strokes with proper technique, master essential survival skills, and start their race dives. This is where fundamentals are refined and endurance starts to build.
Your child is ready for Waves when they can demonstrate:
50 metres bilateral freestyle
50 metres backstroke
50 metres breaststroke with correct kick technique
Streamline dive with butterfly kick
What happens next:
When technique is consistent and endurance is building, your child advances to Jets for distance and advanced skills.
Jets
Intermediate Squads
Key Focus:
Ready for more distance and detail! Swimmers learn tumble turns, continue to refine technique, and develop strength for longer endurance. This is where technique becomes second nature and swimming feels effortless.
Your child is ready for Jets when they can demonstrate:
200 metres freestyle under four minutes 30 seconds
Backstroke with body rotation and strong kicking
Breaststroke with a two second glide
Butterfly with correct recovery
Race dive
Freestyle and backstroke push offs from wall
Survival strokes, sculling, and treading water
What happens next:
Your accomplished swimmer moves to Sonics—the pinnacle of our programme.
Sonics
Advanced Squads
Key Focus:
The pinnacle of our program! Swimmers put everything together—distance, pacing, and technique so refined it looks like art, all backed by real fitness. This is where confident, capable swimmers are made, ready for any water adventure life brings.
Your child is ready for Sonics when they can demonstrate:
200 metres freestyle in under three minutes 30 seconds
100 metres individual medley
Freestyle and backstroke tumble turn
Race dive
What happens next:
Your swimmer has the skills, fitness, and love for water that will last a lifetime—whether they pursue competitive swimming or simply enjoy the freedom of being a strong, confident swimmer.
